Statement of Faith

We believe.....

--In God Almighty, the one true God, Creator of heaven and earth. He is eternally existent, in three distinct persons, The Trinity: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.     Matt 19:26, Rev 19:6, Isaiah 40:28, Gen 1:26, Matt 28:19

--In Jesus Christ, the Father’s only son. Equal in power and authority with the Father and Holy Spirit. In His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.     John 3:16, Matt 28:18, Isaiah 7:14, Heb 4:15, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Cor 15:20, Acts 1:11, Rev 1:7

--In the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.  He convicts the world of sin and gives new life to all who trust Christ. He leads and guides us into truth. He indwells all believers. He bestows spiritual gifts upon Christ’s church for the common good, thus equipping the church to make disciples.  He then desires these disciples grow to spiritual maturity.     John 16:8, John 6:63, 1 Cor 6:19, 1 Cor 12:4, Heb 6:1

--In the Bible, God’s Holy Word. It is complete and without error, infallible in what it teaches and affirms.  As such, it is the supreme and final authority on all matters of life. No other writing or revelation has such divine authority.  2 Tim 3:16, John 17:17

--In Sin and Salvation. That all people have sinned against God and fallen short of his perfect standard. As such, they are separated from God, deserving an eternity apart from Him. Thankfully, God demonstrated his great love for us by sending Jesus Christ to bear the punishment for our sins. On the cross, he took in his body not only our sins, but the sins of the whole world.  He purchased our pardon; paid our debt in full. Because of this, forgiveness of sins and new, everlasting life is a gift now available to all people who trust in Christ. Salvation is found in no one else. Christ alone is the one and only mediator between God and mankind.     Rom 3:23, John 3:16, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 John 2:2, John 1:12, Acts 4:12, 1 Tim 2:5

--In the Church, the Body of Christ, which consists of all born again believers everywhere, who have received Christ as their Savior.  Additionally, in the local church; believers who gather for worship, instruction, fellowship and mutual edification.     Matt 16:18, 1 Cor 12:27, 1 Cor 14:26, Eph 4:12

--In the Ordinance of Water Baptism.  While the baptism itself holds no saving merit, it is still of utmost importance.  The Lord Jesus Christ commanded that, following their acceptance of and belief in Him as their personal Lord and Savior, all should be baptized by immersion.  This is an act of faithful obedience, an indication of a clear conscience before God.  It should be a monumental event in the life of the believer.     1 Cor 1:17, Matt 28:19,  1 Peter 3:21

--In the Ordinance of Communion, which is practiced as a memorial, representing Christ’s sacrifice for us.  Through communion we remember and proclaim Jesus’ shed blood and broken body for our sins.  This celebration is open to all who trust Christ and have examined themselves before the Lord.     Luke 22:19, 1 Cor 11:26-28
--In the Holy Ordinance of Marriage, which was designed and instituted by God.  It is a three way covenant between one naturally born man, one naturally born woman, and Almighty God.  This covenant is intended to be exclusive and permanent.  We believe the church is tasked with helping couples to build strong, healthy marriages by the teaching of the scriptures and biblical counseling when warranted.  We also believe the church is tasked with helping those whose marriages have failed to find healing and complete restoration.  We believe that sexual intimacy is only to occur between a man and a woman that are married to each other (as defined above).  Any other use of sexual relationships is considered fornication and is sinful.   Gen 2:8, Mark 10:8, Exodus 20:14, Gal 6:1, 1 Cor 6:18, Romans 1:24-26, Rev 22:15
